22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. - James 1:22-25
Everyone knows what a mirror is right? You stand in front of it and you have confidence that it is going to reflect an individual who has been through some stuff. You have confidence that you might see some things you don't necessarily like but that you would like to work on. You have confidence that you look great and you're glad the way you are. You have confidence that this reflection of yourself is exactly who you are and who you present yourself to be. Now let's think of the word, in fact get a bible and just stare at it. The word of God is an exact reflection of our true selves. The word of God convicts, rebukes, encourages, strengthens, and advises us so that we may be true servants of the living God. When Christ comes back, do you really think he wants to see you? No, but rather he wants to see a reflection of himself in you. When God himself made you, he made you in his own image. He molded you perfectly, among his billions of plans, he specifically took time to create you. You are special to him. He loves you. He sent his son to die for you so that you may have life. He provides blessings upon blessings just for you! He has drawn you to himself because he wants to use you. He doesn't need you but he knows we need him. He provided us his word so that we may obey it and as a result we will be blessed. Our image is his word, namely his son. Do not feed yourself with the lie and say "nobody is perfect", continuing to feed yourself with this lie will keep you in an ongoing spiral that ultimately leads to destruction. Read 1 John 2:3-6. Sin is absolutely disgusting to God, just because he allows things to happen doesn't necessarily mean he likes it. God loves you and his word is there to help us avoid sin. He has provided us a way to live a life that is so much better than what this fading world has to offer. Trust and believe that he will help you overcome every addiction, temptation, trial, and sin that comes up in our life. As we grow, sin is suppose to completely dissipate and diminish in our lives. It's possible. It's called freedom. You are a Christian, living for Christ is not a one time decision. Commit yourself to the Lord every single day, bear your cross as you walk out the door and reflect who Christ is. After all if you're not reflecting Christ, then who are you reflecting? Yourself? You died in Christ remember? (Colossians 3:3) (Romans 6). Love God. Read his word diligently. Remain consistent in prayer (Philippians 4:6). Time to take action, let's reflect Christ.
Stay blessed fam,
